My Life at the Rattery!
My name is Nycole and you might say I am a bit of an east coast girl. I grew up and have lived in New Hampshire all my life (all 20 some odd years.) My love for rats all started with a mouse. Her name was Pirate Jolly Sophie McPhearson. I know this is a long name for such a little mouse, but when you only have one eye, you need a striking name. She lived to be 3 and 1/2 years old; not too bad for the little girl who was supposed to be snake food. Next, it was off to the world of rats. I got my first pair, after much research, for my 25th birthday and I have not looked back since. I have been working as a Veterinary Technician since 2004 but got my start helping at a hospital in pelham, nh at the age of 12. I worked as a Kennel Manager in my early college years which gave me the knowledge and experience to start a career in veterinary medicine. I worked for an exotic vet for a short time in 2007 which gave me a ton of knowledge to help me care for my little friends. I am now back at hospital which gave me my start and continue to grow and learn as much as I can about the animals I call mine and the ones I take care of.
This was Pirate. She was the best mouse I had every met. She came by name and would do anything for cheerios. She will always be missed; but thanks to her my love of the rat began.
